ROS Jobs
ROS jobs are for engineers building and maintaining robot software stacks around the Robot Operating System ecosystem. Openings on this page include ROS1 and ROS2 development, middleware integration, package architecture, tooling, and distributed runtime debugging. Teams frequently look for practical experience connecting sensors, controls, planning, and application layers through reliable inter-process communication. Depending on the company, you may work on product robots, internal platforms, or migration pathways from legacy stacks to ROS2-first deployments. Strong candidates usually combine good software engineering habits with real hardware integration experience and operational troubleshooting. If your background includes ROS nodes, launch systems, TF trees, or production fleet support, this page gives you a targeted stream of roles where ROS knowledge is directly valued.

What employers mean by ROS experience
ROS is usually one layer of a larger production robotics role. A useful job description shows whether ROS is the application framework, middleware boundary, integration layer, fleet runtime, or a migration path from an older robot stack.
ROS 2 middleware
Modern roles often ask for ROS 2 nodes, topics, services, actions, launch systems, TF2, DDS or QoS behavior, and debugging distributed message flow. Some teams still maintain ROS 1 or mixed-generation systems.
Robot integration
ROS engineers frequently connect sensor and actuator drivers, URDF models, planning or navigation components, controls, and application logic. MoveIt, Nav2, rosbag tooling, and hardware bring-up can matter depending on the robot.
Production software
C++ and Python depth, Linux debugging, tests, observability, performance tuning, deployment tooling, and reliability on physical hardware are often as important as familiarity with ROS APIs themselves.
Search strategy
Search ROS, ROS2, Robotics Software Engineer, Robot Systems Engineer, Integration Engineer, and autonomy platform titles. Many strong ROS-heavy openings advertise the system problem first and mention ROS only in the requirements.
